TPL · CROSS-DOCKING BRIEFING
Online sales channels
We are an online retailer. We list, price, promote, ship and answer the phone — across 12 sales channels, 10 storefronts we built ourselves, and Google and Meta, into 125+ countries. We have run it for our own brands since 2017, on a platform our own developers built. Under cross-docking you get all of that reach without shipping us a single unit in advance.
Every stocked model asks the same question first: which units, and how many, in which country. For a deep catalogue that question has no honest answer — and so the catalogue stays home.
This is the shape of the problem, not a claim about your catalogue. How many SKUs you carry and what they cost you to hold are questions for the conversation, not numbers for a slide.
Our own published sequence. Step 01 is technical rather than commercial, which is unusual and is the reason the rest of it works.
Steps as published on tpl.gr/models/cross-docking.html. Interconnection is the only build work in the model, and it is ours to do.
These are on our website under this model, in these words. They are here because a model where your stock never leaves your building runs entirely on whether you believe the other side.
"Held to in writing: every partner, every order." — as published on tpl.gr/models/cross-docking.html.
All four already held their inventory, and all four have a catalogue too deep to pre-position. That is not a coincidence — it is the shape of a cross-docking partner.
Four is the count the website names under this model. Every one has a public case study on tpl.gr.
Cross-docking asks less of you than any other model we run, and it is honest to say that the two facts are the same fact. Our published trade-off, unedited: slower delivery promise than stocked models, and margins are tighter for both of us.
"Slower delivery promise than stocked models; margins are tighter for both of us." — the trade-off as published on tpl.gr, unedited.
Tell us what you make. We will tell you straight whether cross-docking fits — or which of the other four models does.
Indicative sequencing. Interconnection is the variable: how long it takes depends on what your system is and how it talks, and we will know after we have looked at it.
Cross-docking only works if the thing in the middle is fast and if the data underneath it is right. Both are things we had to build for ourselves before we could offer them to anybody.
So there is no version of this that leaves you holding stock you built for us. Tell us what you make, and we will tell you which of the five models fits.
